Dan Keegan is the Founder of 18 Somerset Capital Management, LLC. Dan is a technology innovator and trading executive who believes in the fundamental transformation of trade execution and market structure.
Dan is the Former Chairman, CEO and President of Citigroup Global Markets Inc. and Head of North American Markets and Securities Services. He worked closely with Risk, Finance, Legal, Audit and Compliance ensuring strong governance and controls. In addition to these responsibilities, he led the executive management office in maintaining a culture of responsible ethics and finance.
Dan was previously the Co-Head of Global Equities at Citigroup and a member of Citi’s Pension Investment Committee. During his time in the Global Equities department, a multi-billion-dollar revenue business, Dan was responsible for all aspects of market and operational risk, technology, and budgeting. Additionally, based on his expert relationship management and extensive connections, he was responsible for the global client franchise across institutional, corporate, and retail banking.
In 2007, Dan joined Citigroup as part of Citigroup’s purchase of Automated Trading Desk (ATD), where he was a member of the Executive Committee and on the Board of Directors. In these roles, he was responsible for building the Institutional Equities business.
Prior to joining Citigroup, Dan held numerous management positions at JPMorgan. Previously, Dan also held Board Member positions with Level, BIDS and the Better Alternative Trading System (BATS).
Dan has been featured prominently on Institutional Investor’s Trading Tech list from 2013-2018, making the top five in 2018. He is a regular honoree in Irish America Magazine’s Wall Street Top 50. At the 19th annual Irish America Wall Street 50 awards, he was named the Keynote speaker. As a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Notre Dame Law School, Dan has dedicated his career to help create revolutionary financial industry technology.
